Music.
Music is always on my mind. A lot of the time anyway. Today was lunching with a buddy discussing music to create for licensing. Then there’s the issue of finishing lyrics on a new song. And finally a co-writer is coming over to finish one last song we have, then start a new one. Then I’ll be cataloging sounds for my setup.
Today’s song comes from Frank Hoier. He comes from my birthing stomping grounds – the big Apple. Mmmm Apple. Great city. Great technology. Great fruit. What a word. Anyway, Frank has a very classic retro type of rock sound. I’d liken it to say a cross of like Elvis Costello mixed with a Tom Petty or something. At least that’s what I’m hearing.
This particular song has a very bouncy feel. And of course I’m generally a sucker for a bouncy feel. Other cool factors going on is the mimicing of the vocal with the guitar lines. Provides a solid foundation to the melody. I like the fact that I can hear the room. It feels like a full band playing in a room all together at the same. That’s a rare quality in this day and age for recording. It’s rather refreshing.
I like the raw quality. Don’t you?
