Every so often it’s time to revisit a piece of the past. In the case of the American GOP or rather the Republicans, they’re revisiting and mulling over how they screwed up the 2008 election. Finger pointing, in-fighting, back-stabbing, you name it. Some of that mess is now going to come out public. Unbecoming is what it is.
Because they have become fractured in their approach and attempted to run a negative campaign it shows that maybe, just maybe Americans are finally waking up that is a method that no longer works well. That doesn’t mean Obama is off the hook – they both threw some mud. However, another candidate who did well for a while showed that people will support someone who stands for something about the country and not about the slamming of others. Interestingly enough he was on the Republican ticket. I bet that there’s a number of Republicans that are kicking themselves right now for not even allowing him unfettered access to the GOP convention.
They were selling the Bad and in the end they got the Super Bad.
Which brings me to today’s pick. Josh caught my ear early in the year and I showcased a song called Cruel To Be Kind. Where I did a stacked guitar solo orchestrated in a manner like May.
But this is about Josh. It’s impressive skill to forge a musical creation like this. I don’t rightly know how many of the instruments he’s playing on the recording, but I’m going out on a limb to say that all the vocals are him. And I’m thinking he’s the piano player. In fact in reading about him on his website, it would seem all the bass and guitars would be Josh as well. Everything but the drums as it would be.
I think getting put in a room with him to create a song together would be ultimately very cool. A chord chemist with a melody master could yield some insane results. Not to say that Josh’s chords involve some really nice twists to make those melodies flow, they do. Which probably in turn makes him a chord chemist too. Fuck it, he’s pretty darn brilliant and it would be a wonderful thing if music like this had some more airwaves time.
