Well, if that wasn’t a sweaty weekend of fun, I don’t know what would be. As I mentioned in the last post it was a workshop of blues dancing. What a workshop. Two full days of blues dancing. In addition to my normal workout routine.
I learned an immense amount about dancing. Especially when it comes to height differences. See, as a tall guy (for America) at 6’4″ (193.04 cm) it becomes a bit of an adventure to dance with someone who is say 5’1″. Within the first half hour of the weekend I was singled out by the female instructor to showcase the idea of dancing with someone at a severe height difference. After that all the follows knew who I was and my name. Over the course of the weekend I got pulled in several more times to show examples of the method to working with height.
It’s a lot of fun when you start picking stuff up and putting it to use. Very fun indeed and I think it will help for things in live performances in the future. All good stuff.
You’d think I’d roll with another blues tune, but I’m a little blued out. So I’m going to run with a song from decades past. A song by Queen called Dancer. What I would call an obscure tune from their catalog. It very much has a disco vibe going on. In fact I didn’t even recognize it as being a Queen song at first. It’s from a release called Hot Space. As much as I know about Queen, I actually know very little about this. However, once the song gets into the swing of things it’s very much got the Queen trademarks in there.
There’s one thing to be said about it, it certainly gives the feel of wanting to get up and strut around.
** as it turns out, this is not available digitally. So you’ll have to get the CD. I wouldn’t have thought Queen to be a band to exclude any material from modern sale. Strange.
