In the continued effort to get this project that started last Thursday out the door. I will soon be taking the mastered files I got late last night into my studio to be slicing and dicing them up into the individual songs. When a mastering person has so many versions of the same song to do, I gotta imagine they’d find a way to do them all in an efficient manner. Like lining them up in a row and doing a pass into one file. Then to save the slicing and dicing time, they put it back on the client. In this case, me.
But wait… There’s more:
Let me take a moment to see what other things I can start slicing and dicing this morning… There’s a new diet out. What are diets about? Slicing and dicing weight off the body. I understand the concept of diets. Everyone wants the simple answer so they can continue to feed themselves junk. The name of that: The Flat Belly Diet. Oh and apparently Katie Holmes recently had some slicing and dicing done to her hair. Yup, that’s right, in the wake of all things important, the slicing and dicing that led to a new look for Ms. Holmes is a top news story.
But wait… There’s more:
Let us not forget that a short while ago, the Beijing Olympics kicked underway at a precise time of 8:08 on 08/08/08. How’s that for slicing and dicing time to a neurotic country that was less than truthful about the kind of access journalists would be able to get. Will the IOC reprimand China? Not likely. Sad. I haven’t seen a single frame about the opening, but I’d bet all I got that NBC has been proudly slicing and dicing every single moment of that opening ceremony. Of course NBC is probably under the slicing and dicing scrutiny of China’s censors. How fun must that be? And what part of the story about America’s athlete of choice to carry the flag in the ceremonies will get hit with some slicing and dicing? Who knows.
But wait… There’s more:
Speaking of music. There’s a band called Sugarland. Apparently they’re doing well in the country genre. Actually they escaped my radar, but hit it this morning because one of their former members are slicing and dicing them for profits. That’s right Kristen Hall wasn’t getting paid as the severance deal was to pay, so out come the lawyers for some additional slicing and dicing. Out of my curiosity I decided to listen quickly to some Sugarland. What was the first thing I heard? A song called “All I Want To Do” came thru my speakers first. All I could think of was how they applied a slicing and dicing to an old hit by Rod Stewart (and that’s how I came to today’s choice).
But wait… There’s more:
Thus if “All I Want To Do” is a hit for them, all I can say is they ripped Rod off with a total slicing and dicing of his song Da Ya Think I’m Sexy. That took all of 5 seconds to figure out. I suppose the best thing is, if you need a hit, rip off the 70’s for their hits. A couple of the other songs were good and well produced, but that’s plain sad to be that obvious.
But wait… There’s more:
Pushing over to Rod. I know that he had a string of hits that were slicing and dicing their way thru the 60’s and 70’s. Good chance he kept it going into the 80’s. I don’t rightly know. I do know that he keeps popping up now and then with new material. He’s one of those original rockstars that kept reinventing themselves. From classic rock to disco to pop, you name it. A very distinctive voice capable of slicing and dicing it’s DNA into your soul. He has a quality that seems to resonate with music peeps.
But wait… There’s more:
While I’m not majorly schooled on the haps of Rod, I did at least remember a song I had heard and instantly recognized it had been ripped off and turned country – the melody at least. Of course the chords, rhythm and genre are different, but there’s no mistaking that melody.
But wait… There’s more:
If you’re not feeling all that sexy, it’s time to pick this tune up (legally of course) and start dancing around like you are all that.
