As Dorian gets bigger and bigger, I’m finding that he’s really turning out to look nothing like the breed of dog I was told he was. It makes me wonder if the people I got him from were actually there when he was born. Because I’m a curious sort, I’ve decided to have his DNA tested for breeds. It’s kinda odd to tell people that you have a dog of a certain breed that looks nothing like that breed.
It doesn’t make him any less of a cool dog. In fact, he’s a veritable magnet for people who think he’s absolutely amazing looking. Which is cool. I’ve even had several people tell me he ought to be a dog model for pictures. Don’t know if I have the desire to pimp him out like that. Especially with the amount of training it may require.
Anyway, there’s a way to get some DNA samples from the mouth of the dog and send it off. My guess is that he’s got some malamute in him – his paws say that along with the occasional speaking barks he tells me and the style of his tail. Then there is probably golden retriever – his ears say that and coat color as well. There’s supposed to be wolf in him, and at 3 months his back hair said that, but not anymore. He has a short coat of hair which I’m not sure what breed that comes from, maybe pitbull?
I should get the answer in about 4 weeks. Should be interesting.
Should he not be any part Malamute, I will be a bit disappointed in the people I got him from. But it won’t make me like him any less. He’s a great dog with a fun personality. He’s very friendly and will go befriend any person around (which is very Malamute like). It would likely mean that I would eventually get him a playmate who is a Malamute sometime next year.
Thus I’d be trying it again. Which brings me to today’s pick. Planetary Nights with their song Try It Again. It very much harkens to the music of peeps like Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen. While I can hear that influence and sound, Planetary Nights ends up being of a different calibre and vibe that sounds like them. Very laid back and easy going. Not going to hurt your ears and something that would be good at a backyard party. That’s a great way to enjoy music don’t ya think?
I’ll be doing that this weekend actually. Enjoy music and friends at a birthday bash for me. Woo Hoo.
Now go get Planetary Nights.
