There’s something to be said for imposing deadlines on oneself. I’ve started to finish lyrics for songs in the past few days. Two songs done lyrically. All that’s left is to do the melody over the music and its worktape/preproduction done. I’ve got about 25 more or so to go. While doing that I was asked to do a guitar/vocal version of Hero Unexpected. Oh, and top that off with, write words and a melody for another track that I did for a Superbowl ad that didn’t get in.
The fun part is getting a film trailer to score. That’s what is going to happen after I sing the lyrics I wrote for the Superbowl track. Lots of stuff to work on. Including getting finished with more music tagging on my library. More than half done there. It’s all coming together.
It’s a bit how I’m approaching what I’m hearing with Lick and a Promise’s ‘The Highway’. It’s got an old school vibe. It’s like they’re working on building a rock empire and this is their next step in that direction. For me the song takes a moment to kick, but once it does I’m feeling a tribute to the Black Crowes.
Of course a lot of us can relate to getting out on the road and saying bye bye. Which is what I’m doing to a lot of the weight that was holding me down recently. Musically speaking it’s starting to make headway and that’s a great thing. Which is what I think Lick and a Promise is doing.
Go get your rock groove on.
