A new collection of my song Do You Want To Play has hit iTunes. It’s for the National Hockey League, otherwise known as the NHL. I’ve done a version for every team in the league as well as the league itself. I’ve been musing on what would be a fun thing to do for fans of those teams. One thing I’ve noticed is that the version of the song for the NHL is getting a lot of performance on the Spotify service in Europe. I wasn’t aware that there were a lot of hockey fans in Europe.
My thought is to run a contest for the fans of the NHL and their teams to create videos to the song of their choice, then post it on YouTube or their favorite video site. Then I would figure out which versions I like best and host them on my website and here on Single of the Day for people to check out. I’m chatting with a few friends to figure out what would be a suitable prize for the best video. Thus if you’re an inclined hockey fan, you can get a jumpstart on a video for your favorite team by purchasing the song of your team and firing up your video skillz.
If you’re a marketing wiz, I’d be interested in knowing the best ways to get the word out on the video contest. It would be great to make it a smashing success.
In the meantime, enjoy the version of the song for the NHL and go find your favorite team’s version. Get your skate on!
