One thing hampers people’s ability to connect more than anything is miscommunication. Of course the dynamic of a personality comes into play, but when a thought isn’t clearly conveyed it means people can get the wrong idea from each other and that leads to problems. Such is the case with someone who is currently supposed to be working for me and yet is now running into conflicts of interest. This is something I was leery of prior to even allowing the situation and now it’s starting to come back and haunt me. Which means that the stuff I’ve been putting in motion yesterday will allow me to likely terminate the problem in the next week or so. Always good to get things out and moving on.
The same holds true for stuff I’ve working on with a buddy of mine. He will constantly tell me how people he is bringing in on projects aren’t able to redo things based on suggestion. To which I usually reply, so, you need my help? What can I do? It doesn’t always result in work, but sometimes it’s does. For today, I’m actually in the midst of working on a tune for such an occasion. I’m playing it over and over as I’m typing this so I can get a feel for what I’ve created and start thinking lyrics. Though really I’ll need to go read lyrics by some of the bands this is to be in the style of so that I can cop their vibe and then supplant me into it to finish the song off and see if it meets his need.
To that end I’m going to get rolling with a tune from the Killers. It’s called Mr. Brightside. I’m sure you’ve likely heard it. It’s been a pretty big hit for them and even though I’m not fully sure of what the lyrics are about, I know the title is something I could be called, Mr. Brightside as I have a tendency to always look for the positive and the bright side. Go figure.
The song feels a bit more simple that a lot of their earlier hits. Which is cool. The really strange thing is how they are essentially combining the idea of disco drum beats with new wave electronica and then adding guitar over the top of it. That to me is a strange combination but it’s working – obviously. Don’t you agree? If you have a theory on what Mr. Brightside is really about, do post a response here and let me know.
Enjoy the live performance.
