So yesterday resulting in an interesting meeting and an additional opportunity for music. If you remember yesterday’s post I was in a rush to get a children’s book started for some music I’ve co-written with a couple of peeps. I hammered out a chapter then hit the road. While on my way to the meeting I got a call from a trailer house looking for a comedy song for a movie coming out some time down the road at the end of 2010.
At the meeting, it was an exercise in patience as the other two writers did not come in with any ideas for the book. So they tore apart my chapter. Instead of thinking about the fact that it was a rough idea and a first draft. Additionally they weren’t thinking of the target audience for the story. While they spent time chatting about life and other things and occasionally throwing out a revision, I went to work on writing the other three chapters to be involved. Once I had it written they took it and decided to flesh it out.
Afterwards I was off to the races to head over to a studio to watch a cut of video for the comedy music I was to come up with. It looks like it’s going to be funny to say the least. In the afternoon I found myself creating the first draft of music as per their request of what they wanted in a style. It got nixed and then it went in another direction that got some go ahead.
In the meantime, this song represents one way people tend to end up with stuff. It’s easy to collect stuff when you’re living at home with the ‘rents. I know I did it before I moved out. Mostly because I was living cheap, make it easy to get things. Oy, that means there’s still some of my stuff at my mom’s house. I know she’s been going through and getting rid of stuff. Kinda in line with some of the things I’ve been doing lately. Consolidating stuff. I should start tackling my shed to get rid of old boxes. Which I started doing, now that I think about it. How about you? Motivated to get rid of stuff?
Oh, and if you’re over 24 and still living at home – GET OUT!
