Last night I was invited out for drinks with my friend Jody. Ha, two Jody’s in a bar. She asked if I would give her a ride to the airport early in the morning. So I said sure. Early being 5:30 a.m. at the airport, doh! Anyway, she was in town for the ASCAP Expo. We met up with another friend of hers Michael who does some stuff for advertising agencies. Nice bloke. We ended up at a place that I think is called the Powerhouse near Highland and Hollywood. Little hole in the wall bar. We closed the place out then went to hang at her hotel while she packed up her suitcases.
Yapping and packing for a couple of hours before having to get the car out and head to LAX. I got home at the first light of dawn. Hmmm… Seems I’ve done that several times in the past year. What’s up with that? Anyway, she made her flight and all is well.
I’ll probably feel the effects of it for the rest of the day. Hopefully it won’t kick in too hard this evening when I’m out for a friend’s birthday party.
In the meantime, I’m going to enjoy some sun today and leave you with a song by Fat called What We Do. A band that was signed some years ago and never made it out alive. The CD fell into my hands thru a friend. It’s too bad because for the year of it’s release it was actually pretty timely.
Thus I’ll let you enjoy the groove and vibe being set fourth with this mishmash of styles in their music. Pounding drums, some faux rapping vocals, grinding guitars and lots of little noises in the production. Enjoy and hopefully you’ll their CD somewhere in a used bin.
