Seems like a lot of movies these days are based around true events or stories. At least that’s how they attempt to market and sell them. Let’s take a look at a current flick in the theaters that is selling itself on that very nature. A Haunting in Connecticut. Very similar to other thriller suspense / horror style movies. Darn near similar to Amityville Horror story which is also supposed to be based on a true story. Go figure.
What is interesting is how any of it stands to be true. It’s fictionalized. My reaction is, it’s a friggin ghost story, get over it. It’s easy to make that stuff up. So I don’t buy that it was based on anything. Enjoy it for what it is, a good suspense and thrill ride.
With so much pursuit of truth in human nature, I’m rather disappointed that I don’t have over 10 songs in my library that talk about truth. Even then, none of them seemed to be calling themselves based on true events. Most are about love or relationships. I guess I’m gonna have to write a song about truth in the near future.
Which is where I’m going to leave you now. With a song by a smoking guitar player known as Nuno (for short). If you’re not familiar with him, you need to get yourself some of his music and sit back to listen. High energy guitar playing is what he’s known for. This particular song is a bit more mellow though. Nuno has allowed himself to get away from the constant buzz of high speed guitar work. Here he’s exploring some different textures. Lots of little vocal coolies in there too.
Not sure if he based it on true events but I suppose we can inject it in there. Don’t ya think?
