We all have our ups and downs. The hardest part is when we have choices to make between several functions we’d like to attend and they’re scheduled at the same time in different parts of the world. Such is the case for today if you’re a musician in southern california that attended Berklee College of Music and have a badge to NAMM. I opted to attend an alumni event for Berklee today, especially since attending NAMM is a Zoo on sunday’s. If one though saturday was bad, sunday is worse. Add to that the fact that people who have been there are pretty much burned out from 3 days of drinking and sensory overload as it is.
Another friend of mine, Femke, was vacillating about both things this morning. She got roped into giving someone a ride to the Berklee event, but that person ended up not needing the ride. Which further added to the confusion. She finally decided to attend the Berklee event only have trouble finding parking. She eventually made the decision to go home and recoup from neither event. It was a rough morning for her.
It’s tough when you want to do more than one thing at the same time and can’t make the choice to be happy at either thing. At that point the smart decision most likely is to go home and take some time off.
Something that I almost did today myself. I had friends asking me to head to NAMM today and I wanted to go to the Berklee thing and I’ve got a phone meeting to do, then my random drive thing I want to do and then a show tonight at the Mint. So it’s easy to have a problem with Love and Confusion. How nice is it to have an artist like Outasight coming up with a song that expresses that.
I did the intro as it’s really odd with all the samples going on and the voice that kicks in. He’s got some non-standard songwriting going there, but the groove is cool and the song is fun. Enjoy and have a great end to the rest of your day.
