How often do you have a sleepless night? What ends up causing it? For me it’s usually when I make the mistake of dozing off while watching a movie or something. When I wake back up, I’m done for. Then there’s the added bonus when your mind is racing a million miles an hour and you can’t get the damn thing to shut off.
It was a combo of the two for me last night. I crapped out watching a flick on my lappy and then when I came back for the finish, I was wide awake and unable to shut off my brain. I’ve read about how TV tends to rob people of sleep, but I have to believe a computer will do as much damage.
One good thing resulted from it. I got a song out of it. I ended up writing some lyrics of one of the many things racing thru my mind. Of course it’s not fully completed, but 3/4 of the words are there, got one more part to go. Otherwise it’s definitely a fun little tune. I can’t wait to finish it.
The irony for the Single of the Day pick is that they are singing about sleeping in a place that isn’t really a place I would think of as an ideal place to get rest. The top of a mexican restaurant. Seriously, how the hell did these guys think up the concept of sleeping on the roof of a restaurant? It’s strange. In fact it’s so strange that it’s got to be something that actually happened to one of the guys in the band. Could you imagine? I wonder if it was more of a drunken passed out kind of thing. Who knows.
I have been fortunate enough to have seen Protein play live. They were definitely one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen. The way the lead singer/guitarist hopped around the stage while playing tight riffs and singing was amazing. Certainly something that I would aspire to in terms of performance. Especially when people think I have a command of the stage, I don’t think I command it like Josh did or probably still does.
They pack a punch. If you don’t have the CD I recommend it. Lots of great guitar driven rock oriented stuff. It gets your blood pumping and your body moving. No doubt.
