And we’re off to the races. Today is what would likely be the official kick start to the business world for 2009. People around the globe are finished with their holiday vacations and getting back to the nitty gritty of conducting their jobs to get money and make the world go round, right?
I’ve been making little changes around myself. Part of that is to bring more friends together, spend more time with them. I feel like I don’t spend enough time with friends, it’s always I gotta do this, or I gotta do that, and running around. The idea is to treat the work like the work it is, but only for an allotted time, after that it’s time to be human and hang out.
For instance, I’ve decided that I’m going to do a foreign language version of a few of my songs this year. I’m calling upon a friend of mine who is bilingual in spanish to have her translate the lyrics. Then I’ll have to get someone to help me with the pronunciation. I think it will be an interesting challenge. In trade for that I’m going to help her with setting up her MacBook, cause along with being a musician with talent, I’m a computer nut too.
I found out that the dutch course I’m borrowing from the library is only 1/2 the course and they don’t have the other half. Thus I’ve asked for additional dutch lessons from the girl that inspired me to learn it in the first place.
Which brings me to a tune by an all female group, Barlow Girl. I’m not sure if they’re still around but this is a fun stomp of a tune. The sentiment is to plow ahead and learn to let go of the past. Which is exactly what a vast majority of this year is about for me. Letting go of people that aren’t doing anything more than using me. Letting go of crap that didn’t work. Let go.
Yesterday was a good start for that too. I hopped in the car. Picked a random spot on the map and took a drive. It was fun. I would normally have been working on a sunday because I was a work a holic nut. But I’m doing what I can to change that. How about you?
I’ve got to get a move on, need to get a cue recorded before I head out to find a replacement wallet for the one that was stolen on my way to Utah. Have a great day and may you find your pile of money for the work you do.
