How many of us take the car for granted? I know I have a tendency to take mine for granted. Though I do take pretty good care of it. I fix stuff when it breaks. I change the oil. I get the tires rotated… Today it was a good idea that I decided to stop by the shop when I did with my car. I noticed it starting to sound a little rough in the past couple of weeks. I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary when I was changing the oil last. When I pulled in a popped the hood it was obvious what was going on. The power steering pump was going bad and would have probably failed either later today or sometime on the next startup and drive.
Thus it was a good thing that my writing session for today got cancelled. It gave me the time to get the pump replaced. What a difference. Much quieter than of late. Good thing. Next up is the door locks that are still being a pain on a couple of the doors.
Speaking of driving. How many of use have multiple cars? Being in LA and without a car is tough. But then couple that with a single person and you’ve got a problem if you don’t have friends who can shuffle you around in your time of need. I have a buddy who has recently decided to move in with his girlfriend. Why? Well the comedian in him says it’s because she excused herself from work, called a locksmith and got his wallet and took it to him at LAX airport when he was already there and had realized his wallet wasn’t with him. By any account that is a true act of altruism and selflessness. She is a great gal. Thus he feels that act is worth permanent status.
With so much talk about driving, I figure who better to express some thoughts on who’d get you home in your time of need than the Cars.
This is one of their bigger hits. With the Cars it wasn’t about hits it was about quality. They were pretty darn consistent with all their releases. I have several of them because my dad would listen to them a lot. If you’re not familiar with them or don’t own any – what’s wrong with you?!? Go now and get this song! iTunes is a click away.
