Sometimes things happen to your person for no reason. At least that’s what I’m feeling at the moment. I was out running early this morning. Nothing like a good 8 to 10 mile run to get your day started. About 2/3 of the way in or thru, I was about to cross a major street when all of a sudden I had a sharp pain in my back and I could breath in. No, I wasn’t shot in the back. Though it kinda would have been nice compared to the pain. I immediately had to stop. The only way to breath was to bend over forward. Unbelievable. No missteps. No crazy terrain. Only a sudden jolt up my back where I couldn’t reach that made it impossible to breath in.
My first reaction was what the fuck. Then came the issue of well, I better start walking back. However walking was difficult as I had to find a method of breath that didn’t feel like I had a knife stuck in my back. Not fun. That’s all I have to say about that. Where’s a chiropractor when you need one?
Here we go. A north of the American border oldie but goodie as quoted from another oldie but goodie movie from the 80’s. I think there must have been a golden era to popular rock music in the 80’s. To boot, there was an artist that had a good number of hits. Here he is for today’s Fallen Friday. I don’t know a lot about Mr. Adams. I do know he’s Canadian. That makes him instantly cool in England because he’s not an American. It also makes him cool in America cause he writes good music. Oh hell, he’s cool just for the music thing period.
As I’m sittin’ here listening, I can hear layers and layers of instruments in the song. My buddy George Leger III who does a lot of my mastering, recently gave me some pointers on production. The big pointer was all about layers. The song in question was Hero Unexpected. Lots and lots of layers in that one. Budding producers may wish to take note of that – layers. Oh and guess what also makes George really cool… He’s Canadian. George also helped out some other bands that have hit it big too. I’m betting the Bryan, like George, is a great guy.
If you like well crafted songs, I highly suggest mining Bryan Adams albums. There’s a lot of gems in that pit.
