It’s a good thing I don’t hold my breath. I’d have passed out and moved on to the afterlife. Or at the very least a very sedated dream state. Nothing like being told a date and specific time for something only to have it ignored. Too bad one can’t do that with everything in life. Heck it would be great to make all sorts of appointments and just blow them off. Great for business don’t ya think? Great for relationships too.
Time, time, time. When you have a lot of it, you wish you had something more to do. When you have very little of it, you wish you had less things to tackle. I think Tom Hanks in Cast Away said it best Time is the enemy. At least it is when it comes to deadlines. Time away is just as bad. Same movie, because of being away for too long he loses the love of his life. Sad, sad, sad.
Aerosmith has been around a long long long time. They’ve even had multiple comebacks in their career. If there is any band that has had a cat-like nine lives, it’s Aerosmith. Hands down, bar none. They are THE American Rock band. They define rock, they lived rock, they breathed rock, they ate rock and rock ate them. They survived rock. They’re now old rock, but that hasn’t stopped them from being rock.
My mom once told me I had a mouth like Steven Tyler. No offense, but I don’t see it. I had a roommate once tell me my singing was like Steven Tyler only thicker. I don’t hear it – but I sure loved that compliment. If there is an American band to model yourself after for being true to rock, you can’t go wrong with Aerosmith. The flashy singer, the guitarist with mystic, the quite rhythm guitarist, the solid bassist, and the pounding drummer. It all adds up to one of the most powerful music brands in history.
I once read the biographical story from one of the members. It’s insane to realize they’re still alive after all the stuff they’ve done. Same could hold true for their british counterparts Jagger and Richards. The drugs, the parties, the hours, the torture, the highs, the lows. It’s intense to read.
Unless you’ve lived under a rock and have never happened across a classic rock station, you’ve likely heard this song. But do you own it? This is what it’s all about right here, right now. Dreams. We all got ’em. Do we all live ’em? I’m doing my best, how about you?
(** Disclaimer: If Aerosmith’s label decides to dream about raking me over the coals, I’ll have to wisk the audio off the server. The post will remain to show that I’m still clinging. **)
