Jet Airliner on iTunes
Ah yeah, I’m on a Jet Airliner. Specifically a JetBlue Airliner. As they say in the movies, I’m wingin’ my way to the coast. Better yet, in Basketball they say taking it coast to coast. Which is essentially what I’m doing. Flying from the west coast to the east coast. If you’re reading this in America in the moring, chances are I could be right over your head at this very minute. 🙂
Call it nostalgia. I can remember my parents, specifically my dad who used to listen to Steve Miller a lot. I think there was a trip to Canada at one point where we where camping and I remember Steve Miller. It may have been something like Abracadabra (is that how it’s even spelled?) but I could be wrong. I also remember this song quite well because of the intro. It’s unique. Then there’s a part in one of the verse’s that sounds like he’s saying funky shit going down in the city. But I don’t believe he’s saying the word shit. Who cares, that’s what I sing to it anyway these days when I hear this song.
I’ve never been to Florida before so this should prove to be quite interesting. I’m meeting people that I’ve only ever spoken to on the phone. And then presenting my situation and giving reason as to why I should be something to be invested in. I think the nice placements and the win at the JPF awards should help out a bit on that. We’ll see.
Nothing like going on a wing and a prayer as they say. I haven’t rented a car, nor a place to stay. Who knows, I may get in and do the meeting later this afternoon and end up with the financing I’m looking and be able to turn right back around a couple of days early and get shit rolling. We’ll see. Otherwise, I have until Saturday to be in Florida. And should the first meeting not prove fruitful there is another two lined up. So it’s all good in the hood as the cliché goes.
If you don’t know Steve Miller’s sound and songs by now, God help you. If you don’t have this in your collection – do yourself a massive favor and purchase his greatest hits. I mean c’mon. The man is a legend. Besides if you can make up words like pompetus of love and make it something people believe in, you’re a God.
(** Disclaimer: should Steve’s label decide to stick me on an Airliner to hell, I’ll be jumping right out along with the audio to save myself from destruction. The post will stay to show I know about funky shit in the city. **)
