Happy Independence Day. Actually July 4th wasn’t really the pivot date in American history that we’re taught. That true date was July 2nd. But oh well. I’m going to be out with friends like much of the country celebrating, well, at least taking some time to drink some fluids and enjoy watching things explode in the sky.
So being that it’s a day for the U.S. I’m going to present “Imagination America” from the band Big Bad Zero. The first thing that pops into my head as this song begins is it’s strong influence from a huge band known as U2. One cannot help but notice that. However the song still holds its own as it has a driving beat and hodgepodge of melodies twisting all over. Lyrically its about the issues we’re dealing with as a nation in trouble. At least that’s what I get out of it. What better day to reflect on a nation in trouble than on the day it observes when it became independent. Unfortunately the government is more concerned with fixing other countries rather than its own.
I’ve seen this band grow over several years. They hail out of Vegas and I’ve had the pleasure of jamming and playing with them on several occasions. They have a good energy live and actually play covers by U2 and the Beatles without destroying them (that’s a good thing). I have the whole album on my iPod, I don’t press skip when a song comes on, so that’s another plus to let you know it’s worth having. Show me some love and post your thoughts on this song.
