Here stateside we have a holiday today. Veteran’s Day. A day where we are to honor those who have fought for our country. Some people have the day off. Some don’t. I have the feeling that the midwest is likely having fairs, BBQs, and parades today.
In reading the news this morning I read a story about the grim conditions of a WWII veteran. He was a survivor of a Nazi camp, but witnessed many of his fellow comrades die. His name is: Anthony Acevedo. It’s a painful memory for the man. It’s understandable why. I’m fortunate that I’ve never been drafted into service. I’m not really into killing other people.
I was out running today and ran by a house of an old man who had a flag waving in his front yard. I waved and smiled with a small thank you to him as he was standing in his yard. It was obvious he was a veteran as well.
I don’t know much music that is directly attributed to this holiday. However, I do know one song that is by a friend of mine that I’ve met. Don Campbell. He has a knack for writing some really nice tunes. He also has a great knack for interesting chord changes and harmonies. I featured him very early on on Single of the Day.
For the Americans and the Veterans of America, this is your ode to a day to honor the service you have given. Big props to Don for creating a cool song for today!
Be proud and grab it legally. Then play it loud!
