Stateside it’s coming up fast on the holiday of Thanksgiving. So fast that it’s tomorrow. I spent the last couple of days working on the transfer of information on my artist website of me. This year, unlike last year, Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving Turkey is on autopilot for me. Meaning, I’m not hosting this year, and I’m not the head chef. Last year was my turn in the family to host Thanksgiving. It was also my first time as the chef too. My first time brining a turkey and ultimately cooking it. Added to organizing the whole menu. It was fun. It was intense. It was tasty.
This year the Thanksgiving turkey and menu are being hosted with my sister at her house. It’s her menu and her cooking this time around. Thus I’m left to help when needed and to essentially fly on autopilot for the holiday. A chance to vege out, or work on some things. One such thing is that website. Today though we got to spend some time seeing a winery in Napa. We’ll be having some wine from the Lassiter winery as part of the Thanksgiving festivities.
A brief stop in Santa Rosa at a specialized spice store was amazing. It’s called Savory Spice Shop. The moment you open the door you are inundated with a plethora of smells. Knowing that I dig cooking, it was a bit like being a kid in a candy store. So many spices from around the world. All fresh, all organic. In a word: Awesome. We stopped there so my sister could get some spices for tomorrow’s Thanksgiving dinner.
One such baking spice was a vanilla bean sugar. Wow.
Speaking of sugar. I’m going with a tune by a Derek Nicoletto called Sugar.
With all the speak of food and spices, I had to go with this. Pretty simple. One, it’s mellow. Two, the title is Sugar. Three, it’s great for a background thing as I’m floating along today. Consistant beat. A mellow sound of electronica that makes for a great backing track. Well done.
