Ever wonder how we can get so worked into a frenzy? Especially when it’s based on something that isn’t even reality yet? Desire is a strong thing in humans. We all have it, albeit for different things. Recently there was a frenzy over the iPhone 3G. Much like last years launch of the iPhone. Then there are those who have strong desires for things in music, or entertainment, or cars, or what have you. We all tend to operate on the desires that we have. Don’t we?
I do.
Then there’s the feeling of being left out. No one likes to be the one to not be included. At least I’m pretty sure I haven’t met anyone who relishes in being left out of something. Oh wait, I can think of something we could all relish being left out of… getting an incurable disease.
I’d relish that.
Last night I was going to be going to a movie and whipping up some pizza. I was relaxing after a hard day of recovering from a hangover induced on friday night. A rarity for me. Ouch is the only word I can muster. Then I got two phone calls. One was an invitation to dinner. The other other an invitation to see Which One’s Pink. Thus I now had to scrap my plans for my pizza. Which is hard, but I did it. I wanted to see my friend. Then on the way back from dinner I decided to hit the Pink Floyd tribute show. I was able to swing a call to my buddy John Stack who is now the lead guitar player for the show. Woo Hoo. It’s a cool show. They do a whole lot of Pink Floyd material and they do it well.
Thus I fulfilled a desire to be with people I haven’t seen in a while and not be left out. Killed two birds with one stone! That’s a good one.
I came across Up The Anesthetic about a year or so ago. I really dug the CD. So I snagged it. I kept waiting and waiting for them to release it on iTunes so I could have it ready for Single of the Day as something you could digitally get. Alas, this is not the case. Thus I’ve finally decided it’s time to show them as a Sunday’s Child.
I really like the vibe they created. It’s a couple of producers who brought in friends from famous bands like: Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Clutch, Zombie, Head P.E. DJ Swamp, AMEN, & Otep. Thus you’ve got some musicians involved that have a bit of success going for them. What I like is the nature of the music. It’s very moody. Much like I get from the vibe of Pink Floyd. So I must be on a progressive type of dark kick. Actually the guitar riff sorta reminds me of a Peter Gabriel tune.
There’s a lot of rhythm and cool changes happening in here. A solid loop beat and some fun noises. It all adds up to a cool atmosphere. Don’t you agree? Go get the CD. Then tell the chaps you want it on iTunes!
