If there is anything more frustrating than waiting on something to happen, I don’t know what it is. That is my morning. I’m waiting on several things. One is a phone call. Another is a possible knock on the door. The anticipation is probably more intense than the outcome will be. The question is, will all the prep work have been worth it? Only one way to find out – wait.
One of my favorite songs about the idea of waiting has to be by Seal and his song Waiting For You. While at this point I wish I was waiting on a woman (which is the idea in his song) I will say it still fits my vibe of me and where I am right now in this position of waiting.
A super smooth and heartfelt vocal soars through a melody that is instantly recognizable as Seal. You can’t deny when you hear him that you know it’s him. He is so distinct in his writing and delivery. It’s fantastic. Of course he also works with extremely talented musicians and producers and achieves amazing sonic textures with his music.
Inside Waiting For You we get a nice funky opening that winds into horns and drums and eventually full on pop brilliance. Keep on skating through song and we come to a orchestral section that creates a very nice interlude in the song. Launch back into a chorus and then break it down and build it back up. It all follows that idea that you run up and down in energy when you’re waiting on someone or something.
To sum it up in one word: Awesome.
Go get it and may you not have to deal with the hardest part: Waiting.
