I got a good deal of music things done yesterday. Nearly finishing an additional set of cues for a deal I’ve been working on for a long while – getting pretty darn close to having 3 cds of material for it. I was shooting for 2 and I’ve done hit a few shy of 3. I think I’ll keep right on going to get the 3 by the weekend.
I decided to visit with a good friend last night that I hadn’t seen in a long while. We took in Zombieland. Time to nut up or shut up. A line from the movie if memory serves. I went in with little expectation on the movie and left laughing my ass off. Aside from Shawn of the Dead, Zombieland has to be one of the funniest zombie movies ever.
Right before I walked into the movie, I got a request to go to a private pub event later in the evening. Thus after catching the flick I chatted with my buddy and then traipsed across Los Angeles to find this ‘pub’. It really wasn’t so much of an actual pub as it was an excuse for people to get together, drink some irish beer and chat until the wee hours of morning. It’s hosted by an irishman and there were plenty of irishmen there, excluding present company.
It was a boatload of fun and I met several chaps stateside on vacation from their homeland. It had to be fun as I ended up not leaving the establishment until 4 am!
Because of the movie last night and the fact that I was out really late, I’m going to roll with For Whom The Bell Tolls by Metallica. I can’t say that I can remember another movie that opens up with a Metallica song. How appropriate this song is for that movie. The godfathers of metal certainly made for a grand opening on the movie. Set the tone for the genre. I don’t think I’ve ever heard this song sound so huge as it did coming out of the speakers of the theater. It was actually fun to hear it in that fashion.
I’m betting that Metallica is pleased with how the song was presented.
