I’m gonna start off by saying that today’s song suggestion comes from my sister. She contacted me this morning to say she felt this song would be highly appropriate based on a conversation she and I had over the weekend. After being refreshed in the brain about the song and the nature of the conversation I had to agree. Funny how that works sometimes.
The first verse is very much a part of the very essence of what we were chatting about over the weekend. It had to do with how we relate to people in our lives. Each day that goes by tends to add to how we end up relating to people. As you gain a little insight in each day you can see what is changing – though that usually takes more than a day or two. There’s a quote from a movie that goes like this: Every passing moment is another chance to turn it all around. So very true.
It’s not so much that nothing matters, but rather the things that really matter end up changing. Changing for things that become more important towards others rather than ourselves. At least it does for lots of people. Others not so much.
Madonna is obviously a person that the world has watched over the course of a career. How could you have missed her? She was everywhere. Love her or hate her, chances are you know something about her. Hell, she’s in the news in the past week over the adoption of a child. I’m not a full on Madonna fan, I don’t own all of her albums. But I do have a couple and I do have a respect for anyone that has sustained a career like she has had. It’s pretty darn amazing from that angle.
What I find interesting about this song is the club / dance like nature of the track yet the lyrics have something a little more in depth than what I would anticipate from a dance track. While I don’t imagine people were out shaking their booties to the song, I’m sure it probably got played for ‘slow dances’ and such.
If you don’t have Ray of Light I’m actually going to ask why not? It’s an interesting album with some cool sounds within it. And of course there’s some stories in there as well that people can attach to beyond the dance floor. Not a bad way to push an album if you ask me. Once you’re on top like that it takes a boldness to go for different sounds from your beginning catalog. There’s no doubt she’s morphed several times. It’s what kept her relevant.
Remember that it’s how you deal with others that counts. Have a great day!
