There’s a B-movie from some years ago that starred Moira Kelly and DB Sweeney. There’s a scene towards the end of the movie where DB’s character makes the statement about needing a goto person and that the last skater the girl had was ‘getting it done’. The movie is called The Cutting Edge and yes, I have rented it and remember it. Shoot me.
I know that I had a conversation with someone today about the idea of getting things done. A lot of my friends know that I get stuff done, especially when I have a reason to do so. I have some friends that think I probably get nothing done and even I get that feeling once in a while. But I believe it’s because I take some time to do stuff for myself and relax when needed.
Case in point I was asked to do a cue for a trailer. In addition to getting some other things done I then sat down, wrote out some lyrics based on the concept I was presented with then laid down a vocal to go with the music I was asked to do it with. All having to get done before running out the door to another gig and then off to a screening. It’s a long day.
We’ll see tomorrow how the rough sketch comes out, but I’m sure it will be pretty close, though there is one line that I need to tweak to make it set up the trailer joke a little better.
Speaking of getting it done, I need to get to the music. Today you’re listening to Big Bad Zero. A group of friends of mine from Las Vegas. They’re not really around as a band anymore but they are collectively working on music. This particular song with it’s title seemed appropriate to me today. Not Done. Those who are getting things done generally are never done with getting things done. As the adage goes, want something done? Give it to someone who is busy. I fully agree with that.
This song pops into an uptempo number right off the bat. A drum and vocal intro, not the usual intro for a song, but it’s going on here. Then the guitars and bass pop in and it’s off to the races. We’re never done, right?
Enjoy, then pop over to iTunes or Amazon and pick up the track!
