I get a little sigh of relief today. All the pressing needs of recent co-written songs has died down yesterday. Everything came off as being in a league of sounding great, so that’s a big plus. I’m thinking of hitting the beach and visiting friends and taking the day off. I may sneak in a little time on some lyrics for one of the many new songs I’m working on for myself. But I won’t press it.
It’s actually a not so normal LA day. There is a cloud cover today. It’s bright which means it’s not a heavy cloud cover, but it fills the sky, so it’s widespread. Strange.
Based on this strange start to the day, I had to couple it with an eclecticly strange tune. Yeah, I made up a word, eclecticly. Shoot me if you can’t handle it. Getting back to Tally Hill. Ha, every time I even think the name of the band I want to type Tally Ho. That’s probably their intension. Who knows.
Musically speaking, I find it fairly refreshing. They list Weezer as an influence and I can certainly hear it in certain parts of this song. As you listen though you’ll end up hearing way more than a Weezer influence. There are elements of much more classic acts. I’m thinking of things like ELO, The Beatles, Nick Lowe, Queen, and others. The production is top notch and based on the title of the CD you can bet its full on a concept album from start to finish.
There’s really only one thing I can say about it: It’s fucking good.
Now, go get it and learn to enjoy the concept album format! Do it legally of course. And because it’s a concept album, buy the CD!
