Fade In:
An archeologist stands with his back to the camera in a swaggered state wearing a weathered leather jacket, dusty cargo pants with a bullwhip hanging from the side. He’s topped off with a fedora, as we pan up from behind.
There’s a bustle of hired-hands rushing around with digging gear. Off camera we hear weapons being drawn.
“Of all the digs in the world…” a pause. “You had to show up here.” Our hero sputters with a growl.
We hear a cackling laugh.
“But of course. What did you expect?” a beat “That you were the only one seeking this buried treasure? What a silly notion.” George exclaims with a defiance in a faux Russian accent. “If there is one thing you fail to realize, it is I am always there to take what should be mine.”
“There is 1,000’s of years worth of history here. It belongs to the world, or rather the universe. Not to you.” Harry A. ‘Fifty-one’ Adams barks back.
Cut to:
The music befits a scene set in the roaring 50’s and an unknown juke joint. We get an eclectic little jazzy number steeped with a bluesy feel and roughed whiskey voice. Upon hearing the song Fifty-one orders a bottle of gin. He’s in need of drowning his sorrows over losing a former flame. She couldn’t take his life of adventure.
Truthfully she found him irresistible. His rough and tumble nature. His ability to soulfully improvise on any given instrument made her feel like he was playing her no matter what note he touched. Still she couldn’t help but feel he was married to the music and would never come around to her.
It was in his eyes. In his beat it defined his walk. The melodies would go down easy, much like a stiff drink curing a heartache after half a bottle has already been consumed.
What a blend. Action. Adventure. Heartache. Darrin James has got it.
Now it’s your turn to get it!
