Last night I had a conversation with a friend who asked me about losing a drive to work. My first response was, yes it happens. I think it happens to everyone. There’s a price to constantly working and not taking a break. That price is losing a drive to work. No matter how much you love what you’re doing. I get moments where it’s like, argh what am I going to do? Which is what my friend is going thru.
Questions that I asked after that were how long has it been since an actual vacation or a change of pace. The response was two years. That’s an awful long time to go without a break.
I look forward to holiday breaks, and I treat them as such. Which is why I went skiing, rock climbing, and hanging with friends out of town. It’s a good change of pace an allows one to recharge and be ready to come back to work with a renewed angle.
Speaking of angles, I need to get rolling on some work, running around and making calls.
On to the music for today…
Alex came my way last month and I’ve been a little backlogged on things. That’s a big mistake on my part. Ironically that’s the title of the song I really like by Alex. Since I’m getting back into the grind I know I’m gonna need some music that gives me a relaxing feel. Alex is delivering that in spades. I like the gruff and sandy vibe in his voice, it’s got a real rootsy feel.
There’s a constant flow to the music with a running rhythm by the guitars and strings. There’s so much drive despite the fact that there is no drum set pounding out a beat. He’s making it work. I recommend that you spend some time exploring Alex and his sound – it won’t be a Mistake.
