Sometimes you go on a hunch and do a bunch of work brilliance comes out of it and all is well. Then there are the times when you’re given a little bit of direction and the first example or two is approved, so you continue on making the rest of the project fit that similar mold. Once it’s done you find out that it isn’t exactly what was intended. It happens from time to time. For me it happened yesterday.
I had completed the acoustic versions of some music I’m being paid to create, only to find out that the direction I had taken it isn’t exactly what it should have been. It’s not anyone’s fault. I did like I tend to do. I get an example and I work from that. Often it works out, but on this occasion, it wasn’t the best case. Fortunately two of the eight songs only needed an extra guitar part to work. The other six need to be reworked and rerecorded in order to make them be the true alternate versions they need to be. I now have a much clearer understanding, so it will go fairly quick, but it’s a bummer nonetheless to have to do it over again.
On the bright side. I have a meeting a with acting manager friend of mine. He’s sent me on commercial things before. Recently had me complete a list of things to do in order to have me ready to go out again. In the meeting I’ll be looking to point him in the direction of voice over work as well. He’s generally got lots of good friends that are agents. So that’s a plus for my day.
In the meantime, I’m leaving you with today’s choice…
Greg Nicholson wrote a little ditty some time ago about being something that I’ve found a few people being lately – Lost. Not long ago I found myself in that same place, for much the same reason that Greg describes in his lyrics. But that was straightened out and I’m finding my way back to reality. The good thing about it is that I’m connecting with new people and finding new opportunities for things. This is a great thing.
Straight up rock. Pure, not over polished. That’s what you’re getting here. That’s what I’m diggin about Greg.
Knowing him personally, he’s a cool guy. In addition we wrote a song together late last year that I should probably feature hear on Single of the Day. Yeah, I’ll have to do that.
Have a great day and may you never find yourself Lost.
