Yesterday was a lengthy day of getting music done. But before I get to that, I had a bit of a glitch for the blog yesterday. So lets recap Thursday’s guest DJ spot on Radio Buzzd. I had a great time heading out to their studio to do a guest DJ spot. I had picked out a good selection of music to play and was ready for anything. Well… Almost anything. Despite a possible tech issue for them, we were still able to get the show and the music on the air live. That’s a good thing. Even better is when you’re having so much fun they end up running long on the show. In a way, I’d say it reminded me of Howard Stern in that we kept going despite going over allotted time.
Rumor has it, they want me back again. Apparently I fill good air. Or am good at filling air. Or something like that.
Yesterday I was busy dealing with some things relating to personal stuff and of course finishing up demos of songs. I finally got the rolling on a song I did with an artist by the name Sharif called Lemonade. I also whipped up the vocals on another song that I had been meaning to finish. Done. Productive. I also finished up several cues for a movie trailer. Even better is one of the cues could be immediately pushed to another opportunity. That’s a plus. But it was a mad dash to get it done. Which kinda felt like crunch time.
Seriously, it was crunch time. Unfortunately it’s crunch time in other areas of life as well and that isn’t pleasant. Next week is going to be a week of turmoil in some way shape or form. I have to face it, but I don’t have to like it. What I will say is that it really sucks to have to depend on someone giving you good information and then they drop the ball on you. When shit happens beyond your control, it can be painful to deal with. That’s where I sit right now. In a moment of uncertainty with something important. Having to plan for the worst and not knowing if everything will actually turn out ok.
Because the actions of others that are beyond my control I can’t do anything but sit back on the ride and hope that I don’t get too queasy. Unfortunately my normal calm collected and cool self is getting a little frazzled. Not in a good way. This leads me to the Van Halen led song called Loss Of Control. Even better is that it contains lots of crunch in guitar tone. Thus it’s a frenzy of a tune that speaks volumes of how I’m traveling right now.
The song is also a great example of how the music fits the vibe of the lyrics. Fast paced guitar lines racing and running with a vocal that is blowing through words like there’s no tomorrow. Babe there’s just one thing you gotta know – Loss of Control, lossa control, lossa control. Wild guitar solos, quick smackin drums, and kicking booty word spitting. It adds up to a classic tune from the Van Halen vault.
