I really need to get back on top of myself. I’m finding that if I keep waiting to write the blog I end up pushing it and pushing it until it’s nearly not part of the day. I need to get back to making it the first thing I do in the morning.
A bit of running around and tackling projects today. Finishing up a song demo with Shairah. The artist out of Canada that I’ve been doing some writing with for some major gigs. We’ll see how that ends up working out. Getting another song mastered for the movie I mentioned the other day. Then I’m snipping out video clips for this website I’ve been having built. It’s very close to being completed – it will be great when it’s finally said and done and up and running.
Then in the midst of that a co-writer called and started trying to write a song during my lunch. It’s for yet another movie so I figured what the hell and got the initial idea down to work on later. I had a run to the po box to pick up my package of herbs for improving health. We’ll see how that goes. Should be interesting.
In my dire need to get back to the editing, I’ve taken a moment to expand your musical horizon with a band out of the UK called the Kooks. In a way they remind me of say the Kinks without the angst. Ha, as I typed that I realized they both start and end with the same letters. Cue the twilight zone theme.
I’m digging the easy going vibe and swingy feel. I really don’t know much about the band. But I’ve picked up a few of their songs because of their sense of groove. That’s where a band can really hook me. Hook me by really having a strong sense of groove. The fact that the singer has a sense of melody helps too. It’s his enunciation and melodic choices that lead me to think that he really admires the Kinks.
Maybe it’s this band that is sitting in the photo of Dick Cheney’s sunglasses. Actually I jest. I know full well it’s the devil he’s reaching out to touch. Especially by the smile he’s got. The “girl” in his glasses was probably moving in her own way which given his ability to perform the Jedi Mind Trick is probably failing on her, or is it? You decide. Either way, go add The Kooks to your library, legally of course – don’t be like Dick Cheney.
