Yesterday was a fun day of skiing. Also a varied day of skiing. A first for me was that I have never been skiing where the group would stop after every run to go into the lodge for a beer. I felt like the odd guy out on that part because I wasn’t interested in drinking anything but water. Several times I was asked why I wasn’t wearing a helmet. Everyone is so afraid of falling and hitting a tree. At least that was the feeling I got. I suppose when you’re drinking a beer after every run, it would stand to reason that you’d likely hit a tree skiing. I don’t drink when skiing. I understand my limitations and wearing a helmet would give me a false sense of security, leading me to do something without thinking about it. I prefer to think about a jump or a turn.
The weather started out amazing. Sunny, near springlike conditions. That didn’t mean the snow coverage at the Canyons was good. Far from it. Snow coverage at the Canyons was shit. But a day of skiing is like sex. Even if it’s bad sex, it’s still sex and it’s good. I believe that’s how the analogy goes. The weather changed late in the afternoon. The weather man predicted up to 20″ of new snow for late afternoon into today. The clouds rolled in nice and dark. Snow started to flurry. Several of the group members skied to the bottom. The rest of us die hards took off to the top of the mountain to ski 99-90.
Once we came to the bottom of the resort, the snow stopped. So much for the 20″ of snow. I figured I might not get out of Park City today due to the storm. Such is not the case. I’ll be packing up and having lunch in Provo with a friend in a few hours.
Last night I had a great dinner with a friend from University. Long chat about our respective businesses and romances. Fun stuff, great restaurant.
Over the past couple of days I’ve had the chance to revisit Netflix due to my sister. She has an account with them and spoke highly of it. They have a feature now that in addition to the DVDs that you get mailed to you, there is now an on demand streaming to computer or TV. I don’t have a TV but I do watch movies via computer. She showed me how it works and I’m hooked. $8.99 a month for unlimited streaming?!? Beats the hell out of Blockbuster who is now charging $5 a pop to rent a DVD now. The quality is great and even better is that the movies stream with surround sound.
Suddenly it makes sense to have a Netflix account!
See if you can understand why I decided to run with KT Tunstall’s tune Suddenly I See today. 🙂
Cool beat, cool groove, cool melody, and fun song. Plus it fits my title.
