The online encyclopedia of wikipedia is a strange thing. It’s a user generated site that can be a boon for information but can be rife with errors. I’ve recently made the attempt to add elements of my career to the site. First roadblock – my account was unable to upload an article due to an IP block. The problem got taken care of, only to be followed by issues of having attempted to create an article that then was rejected for being done by the artist in question (me). A chat with the editors showed that it would get treated as an autobiography rather than information about my career.
I continued on. I still wrote. Subsequent attempts to upload meant that it was now flagged for other reasons. One being that the actual artist could not possibly be the definitive source as to what they did. Generally they want an artist who has done something significant and they want it submitted by a third party. Which begs to question – is all of wikipedia based on hearsay?
I’ve got a writing session to get on with so, it’s time to get to the music.
I’m gonna run with a tune called It’s a Good Life by a band called Kongos. Despite little setbacks like the thing with Wikipedia, I must say that I’ve actually had a pretty darn good life. How many people really get to make a living out of something they actually enjoy doing? Well, should you be on the website right now, you’re likely hearing the tune. My immediate feeling is the sense of fun you hear in the music. It’s like one big party going on.
The lyrics have a sense of humor to them. Which I appreciate. The vibe of the song reminds me of a cross of Chuck Prophet and John Lennon. The vocals certain have the John Lennon influence, but it’s the music that gives me the Chuck Prophet sense. I’m not sure why I’m getting that cross reference, but that can’t be bad.
Get on out and have a great day and enjoy your life!
