Dick had a computer. Dick got a gift from a girlfriend, Jane. Dick really liked the gift. Dick’s gift was a DVD/CD organizer. It tied to the computer using USB. Dick like it so much, he bought more of them. Dick then bought software to run them. Dick was happy with the product for a long time.
Dick’s computer was made by a fruit company. The fruit company likes to update their systems. Dick likes to stay updated. When Dick updated his computer, some of his things stopped working. Jane’s gift no longer worked. Dick’s printer no longer worked. Dick was bummed. Dick contacted the organizers tech department. They told Dick, sorry, we can’t make it work, go back to the old system. Many months later more people complained on the internet about the organizer software. The tech people kept saying sorry, we can’t support the new system.
Today Dick decided to try something crazy. He installed the old software again. Dick ran the software. To Dick’s surprise the organizers worked and came to life. The software works again. Dick sat and scratched his head. Then Dick put the organizers back to use for organizing more DVDs and CDs.
Dick still can’t understand. Why would old software that didn’t work, suddenly start working again – on even newer system software.
Dick decides not to worry about it. Dick turns to music and says: Listen to Digital Empire. Dick knows. Dick knows it’s a good song. Dick also knows it’s nothing like anything. Dick doesn’t care. Dick does care that you buy the song. Dick cares that you don’t steal.
