Nothing like getting out under the sun with a mountain bike and some water strapped on ya. I hadn’t been riding for about a month, it’s been too hot. So I went out for what I thought would be a good ride. I started off easy not wanting to burn out too much before the summit. Once I got up there I decided to take a path I hadn’t been on before that actually goes even farther up into the hills. I came to the crest of the highest spot on the ride and decided it was time to sit and rest.
Not a moment too soon. I got a little queasy and out came the contents of my stomach. Woo hoo. I get I was pushing a little harder than I expected. Prior to that I was eyeing the fire road and where it continued on too. However, once the spewing ensued, I thought twice about extending the ride any further. Instead I sat for a while, listened to music, drank some water, and relaxed.
It’s good to get out on a solitary ride once in a while. It unwinds the mind. Gives you time to think and at the same time, do nothing. I can’t wait to experience what it will be like to mountain bike from Canada to Mexico across the Rockies. I have the feeling it’s going to be arduous. Though it should be well worth it. I do hope those that join me on the quest feel the same.
A tad burnt from the ride, I’m now going to watch a couple of movies I rented, then I’m off to watch a friend do a show at the infamous Hotel Cafe. Not exactly my favorite place to go hang because of the pretentious attitude, but it is a friend and I’ve never seen him play. So I will bite my tongue and go.
In the meantime, have some fun with this tune. While not the final demo of the song it is the first completed song written by April, Brandon, Femke and myself. The singer is a girl named Megan. It’s called Cliques & Clichés. We’ll be rerecording the guitar part so that it’s a little more resonant and punchy. Once that’s completed the song will be off to Nashville to find a home with a young female country star.
What makes it timely for today’s post is the fact that we have a line about stomachs in the song. Not spewing contents, but still, how many people have been able to make stomach a word that can be sung. I can’t think of any and it took us a little bit to get the melody right to make that word work. Oh yeah, the fact that I’m going to a very clique-y venue tonight, hmmm… Yeah, that’s a tie-in too. Most definitely.
Enjoy the tune and I’ll likely repost the new version when the guitar is rerecorded. Don’t worry it’s already copyrighted.
