The essence of what everyone seems to want more of is time. More time to enjoy themselves, more time to enjoy someone else, more time to watch something entertaining, more time to get a job done, more time to travel, more time to just sit. Time.
I am amazed at people who think I seem to have all the time in the world. Because I have no more or less time than anyone else. We all have the same amount of time only we’re in different routes of using that which we have. I also find it odd to hear people say they wish they could be more like me when it comes to making use of time. That’s an interesting statement, especially when I feel they don’t know me well enough to know how I spend my time.
I suppose the reason why it gets said to me is because I will make, or rather a better word is: take, the time to give someone my attention. Most of the time, unless I feel it’s a waste of my time. However, if I want to be around someone, I suppose I’m able to give them that time they desire. Which is where that impression might come from. The idea that I always have time for someone.
My take on it is as such. If you really like someone or even love them, you will give time to them. It’s really that simple.
Of course if someone starts to abuse that time, then it’s uncool and that’s when my time will no longer be given out.
I know when people ask me how I can do such things (like going to do things with friends, or taking time to eat, etc) I respond, you could too. It’s a matter of making yourself a priority in such a way that it involves the people around you. You do have to be interested in the people you’re around. Otherwise you’re wasting their time and that’s not fair to either party.
It could also be that I have a nifty little device that so many thought to dream up. A Time Machine. Many tales have been written, many times it’s been thought to have been invented. But so far, it’s still mostly a dream, or is it? Here’s a little song from my past that is about that very thing, Time and having a machine to move thru it in reverse or fast forward.
It’s got loops, it’s got guitars, it’s got funky rhythm, it’s got a story. It’s something that caught the EAR of a character by the name of Dr. Floyd. If you search the annals of the internet, you’ll find that Dr. Floyd also has a time machine as well.
So on this holiday weekend, I certainly wish for you to have time with family and friends. Don’t have the song? Go get it now! Then spend some more time with the people you want around.
