Something many of us can relate to…
Workin for a livin.
The amazing thing is how the perception of musicians and what they do may not be work in some people’s eyes. However, I’ve heard a brain surgeon say that he thinks playing music (especially guitar) is much harder than brain surgery. Wow. I’m not one to think I’d ever go to school and learn to cut people open, but I imagine that’s not an easy profession.
Making music, being creative, and making sure you’re not ripping someone else off, is not easy either. Is it fun? Sure, a lot of the time it is – for me. Is it draining? Yes. Mentally it can wear you out and turn your brain into mush. Long hours writing and honing, then recording… Creating the right sounds takes time. Lots of time. And therein is the issue where people don’t value time.
When I’m asked if I should give my music away, especially by someone like a doctor. I usually ask if they’ll give me free medical services. It’s only fair.
On to the music for today…
I’m diggin into one of my songs for today. This is off my CD Practical Insanity. All The Things. Talk about making sure you hold your head up high. Thumpin drum loops, pulsing guitars, and a bass to boot. It’s a differentish song being that I feel in 4, but there’s a feel of 3 in between the beats.
I like it, but then I’m biased – right?
I’d love it if you bought it. You’ll love it if you do. We’ll both win.
