If there is something that can kill a spirit it’s when you’ve worked your ass off on something and then the end result ends up falling way short of expectations. Such is the case for yesterday. Workings for months on a putting a library together for a deal with a major network only to be told the amount they’re offering is now 1/25th what was expected. The amount I was quoted ended up equaling the same amount they were telling me for all of one CD and now I’ve got 18. It’s mind numbing. After more negotiation it may change but I’ll have to wait another week to find out the result. It’s not fun.
The dumb thing is, I had to turn down another deal for a song earlier in the week. The contract and terms were so ridiculous it was laughable. It’s amazing to see how some companies really just want to screw the creator and have no issue with doing it. It’s horrendous.
Needless to say I had to blow off some steam last night and started watching a series from the discovery channel called Everest. Good ol’ Netflix.
In a short while I will be heading out for a hike to spend some time clearing my head, getting exercise, spending time with the pup, and not thinking about music.
Because I’m not wanting to really give a ton of thought to a tune today, I figure rather than having not much to say about someone else, I’ll leave at something I’ve done and just let the music speak on its own. Pretty simple. I will get my wind back for music in the next day or so.
Hope your week has gone better. I’ll be much happier when I get past the thieves and start seeing something fair come back.
