The weekend went well. The recording for my friend’s CD started smoothly. My initial reaction is pleasure. I’m very happy with the sound I’m getting for the guitar. The biggest start was getting the right mic placement with the right combo of mics. That’s what takes the longest amount of time. The initial setup. Once you have the setup then it becomes a matter of the performance and capturing the great ones.
The great thing is that she came in prepared and we knocked out the guitar parts for six of her songs. The better thing is when you have prepared musician’s that know their parts. He even double and in some cases tripled his parts. I’m pleased with that.
Sunday was spent chilling out.
Of course I probably didn’t mention much about Iron Man 2. I did get a chance to take it in in IMAX. I’m still not sure that it’s as good as the first one. But damn it’s really damn good. There was only one thing that was a tad disappointing. That would be the final song over the ending credits. I’m not opposed to the greatness that is AC/DC. However, and I’m not alone on this, the choice of Highway to Hell as the ending credits song – did not work. If you followed Single of the Day then you’d know that I have a song that would have been perfect for the ending. If you’re on the website now, you’re likely to be hearing right now as you read this.
Going a little nepotistic again. Hero Unexpected is my choice today. I know, I know, it’s one of those things where you’re going so what. Well it was no small feat for me to use about 10 different avenues to get the song to the right man for that movie. In the end the response was: We’re going with a name brand artist. Sadly it’s one of those times where going with the name brand actually didn’t work. Oh well. There’s always the next movie and now I have yet another avenue to make that push with.
Do get out to see Iron Man 2. It’s really damn good.
