A weekend of some firsts for me. I attended my first rave. The kind of rave that happens somewhere where you would have to be a real fan in order to attend. I did not drop acid. I did not take E or X. I did drink alcohol. I did try nitrous, but it only made me cough and I got no effect from it other than being annoyed. I did have a lot of fun listening to loud music being spun by a mutual friend for a long time. I did meet some fun people. I did have to show my driving skills to get there. Nothing like navigating a road meant for a 4×4 in an Audi. The party did go all night – unfortunately I did not. I passed out. Though I didn’t get much rest due to being able to hear the music and feel the bass through the ground despite being 50 yards away. Ah the joys of camping.
I had to leave early in the morning to be back for a writing/initial recording session on a new song with a co-writer. I had no cell service where I was, so it was lucky that I left earlier than expected as the co-writer wanted to start earlier.
I did a lot of clean up, and actually still need to clean up the car a bit. Lots of dust. In case you can’t tell it was somewhere far off the beaten path to get to.
After the writing session I ended up going for a mountain bike ride with some friends, last minute. It was a ride I had never been on before and it was fun. Along the way the group of us met a former US Ski Team member who had a dog with the most amazing eyes.
To keep in the spirit of the rave, I think I will roll with a tune that was a remix done on one of my songs. A remix that is very much in the style of the music I was hearing the other night. The song – Hero Unexpected. Certainly would have fit right in, no doubt about it. It’s a Heroic feat to see that many people gathering so far in the remote regions of the world. All to gather and have fun.
