Today is going to be another good day, I can tell. Waking up in due fashion after a night of making my first foray into Blues dancing. WTF did he just write you’re probably asking yourself. Usually I’m the musician on the stage playing the music that people would dance too. I don’t often spend time dancing myself. However a friend of mine recently mentioned a form of dancing that sounded like a bunch of fun. Thus last night I went with my friend and attended a beginners class in Blues dancing.
It was a lot of fun. It’s a little strange learning about posture and how to move around with someone else in your arms. Amazingly you can tell when someone can or can’t take the direction of the lead. Of course it doesn’t help when the lead isn’t solid in the lead position. I had a lot of fun learning. Watching other people who know and are good at the improvisation of it. Blues dancing is kinda like an improvised version of swing that is a bit more intimate and sly at the same time.
As for today, I’ve got a vocal session for singing a theme song for a video game. So I gotta get to the music and get out of here…
I’ve been mesmerized by an artist by Jane Lui. It’s not often you hear such originality that still sounds inviting and exploratory. Meaning that most of the time when music gets this quirky it ends up not working. Such is not the case with Jane. Her music is very quirky but such a fun journey. I really enjoy the meandering that happens and I’m easily being taken by the hand and led around in her musical adventure.
I think the one factor that really makes it work is her voice. It’s very sweet and listenable. There’s a quality it in that says, sultry, sexy, sinister, sly, and superb. That’s a lot of es’s there.
Do yourself a big favor and explore the rest of her catalog. You won’t be disappointed.
