If you’re easily offended by certain words in music, you may wish to not play this song.
In case you haven’t been around for a few days, I’ll recap the fact that I’ve been laid out with a flu. It’s really odd to get hit with a flu when the people you know you’ve been in contact with haven’t been ill. Very odd indeed. I was scheduled to be at a function tonight for my agent, but I’m going to cancel. My fever has broke, but my throat is still sore and I’m still prone to sweating for no reason. My guess is that I’m not fully over the flu and I’d like to not spread it to others.
I suppose that’s very un-American of me. The prevailing attitude these days is to dope up on drugs and still get out there to get things done. It’s probably the single main reason why things like flu & colds spread. While no one I know personally is ill, I still can’t help but feel that some hand I shook or some person in a queue somewhere had the flu and was out in public when they should have been home in bed.
In the meantime, I’ve been sorting thru some of the Apple oriented websites that I tend to visit. In case you’re not a huge Apple fan, new Apple products were announced today. New iPods, new iTunes and other little goodies. While I’m not in need of updating any of my iPods I will say that the new iPods do look clever and cool. The iPod Nano announced today is quite slick looking with it’s tapered shape. It also has and accelerometer in it to provide some interesting functionality to it. The classic iPod also has trimmed down a bit.
The new iTunes 8 appears to have some interesting functionality and being that I’m laid up attempting to rest, I’ll likely download it and start futzing with it. I’m actually kinda interested in seeing what the “genius” feature will link my own music to in terms of other artists. That should prove to be quite strange or cool.
In line with strange or cool I have Phashara. A hip hop artist that has some flavors of older hip hop artists. I chose this song for the rough value it has to me getting over the flu. It’s not as polished in it’s presentation. Actually all of the material has an unpolished feel, thus it’s the vibe that Phashara is obviously going for. Interesting being that so many artists these days attempt to cover up inconsistencies by editing them with computers.
While I’d bet that Phashara is using a computer to record with, I get a vibe that he’s using the old school version of loop by feel and not by numbers. The good of that is that it can lead to really interesting feels in the music created that way. That’s what gets me groovin my head right now. Despite my sore throat, I’m still feeling this song. I’m almost done with the flu storm.
Need a sly groove for any storm you’re going to weather? Then pick this up!
