Home.
Did you think of me as you were imagining the open road yesterday? I know I was thinking music and of course about you. Road trips are always more fun when done with people. Too bad I was physically solo – but then that’s the nature of taking off at a moments whim.
I did have a stopover in Vegas. Not for gambling. No, I heard it from a friend who, heard it from a friend who, heard it… A friend gave me the number to a friend that is now residing in Las Vegas and I wasn’t even aware. So I have yet even more friends in Vegas. If there’s ever a need to move I suppose I’ve got friends in Vegas. We had a good time hanging out. She pulled out an iPod Touch and proceeded to purchase some of my music right there. Pretty nifty actually. As much of an Apple fan as I am, I don’t have an iPod Touch and I had never seen someone use one to buy music. Pretty simple actually. Leave to Apple to make it easy. The added plus is that I see first hand that people do buy music!
It’s good to be back. I’m a little run down from all the skiing, hitting a tree, staying up too late, and long drives. Almost need a vacation from the mini vacation.
Have you ever noticed that things go in cycles? Like stuff that breaks or needs repair or replacing? I know I have. It’s part of my whole thing going with the studio right now. Repairing the sound. Along with that, I’m in need of removing trees. Yes, I will replace them, but they’ve been attacked by Termites and are no longer happy trees. No, I don’t hold a grudge from the Pine that bit me while skiing in Park City.
Can people be broken? Possibly. I know it’s an idea presented in the movie Pay It Forward with Kevin Spacey. Great movie if you haven’t seen it. This morning I was going through music and I noticed two songs about broken things that relate to people. I figured it must be a sign. Especially since I had a discussion about broken things while visiting my friend in Vegas. Ha, as if I pay attention to signs.
Anyway, I pretty sure we’re all broken in our own little ways. That’s part of the quirks to life. It’s also what makes us all so human, isn’t it? If we all had the same broken things we’d be rather boring. The question is, are we really broken? I don’t believe so. But I can agree with Jenny. We can feel like something is broken in our relationships between people, thus we search for that which can make us feel more complete.
I like the building mellow vibe. It sneaks up on you much like discovering something is broken in a relationship. Sometimes it’s obvious, lots of times its not. Sly, sly, sly. I say get the song as a reminder to keep your radar working. To help you work on keeping things in good working order.
