There are times when it really helps to get things clarified. I was recently on a mission to create a library of sports music. Based on the off-handed remarks of a major network contact and another friend of mine I was initially under the impression that I needed about 18 CDs of material. Today I spoke with the network and found out that I only needed 10. To add to that, I was thinking I needed it to all be one particular style. Again, doh. I need a little variety.
As it turns out, I already have 12 CDs worth of material, of that 9 are already all cut up and ready to go. The other 3 are in need of being output and cut up. Which I will now have to wait on a buddy who mixed three of my CDs to output the needed files so I can cut them up. Whew.
Of course the bonus is I’m much closer to a goal than I had anticipated all because I had put the feelers out to make sure I was going in the right direction. I’ll still be pumping out additional material, but knowing that I’m already in the right direction with the material means I can concentrate on my artist side of things. Especially when I find someone to run the library for me.
All of this is what makes me feel like I’m getting better in what’s happening. Get Better is the vibe of the day here on Single of the Day. Which brings me into Groundsound. It’s important to pay attention to what you have to make sure it can work with what’s needed. Another good connection for the today’s pick, as the album is called Pay Attention.
There is a very old school feel to Get Better. Even stranger is how the song feels like you’re coming in in the middle of the track. The keyboards are already going as if in mid motif. Live pounding drums, a funky guitar riff that occasionally mimics the keyboard line lend itself to a 70’s style vibe. I’m kinda thinking something along the lines of Cream (if they had keys) or something like that. There’s a very jam feel to it. Kickin it the way music should be done when off on a whim and not worried about every little moment. Carefree.
The solos also feel off the cuff and free to roam.
It’s an organic thing that I really appreciate when a band does it well. Groundsound is certainly doing it. Don’t you agree? Good, then go get it.
