It never seems to fail. As soon as I’m busy in a project I find that all kinds of things come crawling out of the woodwork vying for attention. Everything is a state of emergency when that happens. Not that I’m in a state of emergency, but rather other people feeling like whatever it is that I can lend to the situation will fix their emergency. Am I the only one like this?
Absolutely bizarre. If only I were a jerkoff to charge like $100 per call like Apple Care or something. I’d probably start making a ton of money in an alternate career.
I wonder what would constitute a musical emergency. At this point, I’m guessing there is no such thing as a musical emergency. There is so much music in the world that if a particular writer/composer isn’t cutting the bill, there is already some other music already recorded that will. In theory at least. I suppose the real trick is to make yourself so invaluable as a writer that people have to work with you. That’s the trick right?
If there is a writer that I would find invaluable to write with it might be one of several. The odd thing is most of the people I might choose for that aren’t overly popular in the mass media. But they are truly brilliant. I’ve even had the chance to write with some that I really like already. That’s a big plus. Several have been featured on Single of the Day already in past posts.
So as I’m fulfilling the process of ‘if you need something done, give it to a busy person’ I’m gonna leave you with this song pick for today. Messes by Chuck Cannon. A writer that I would love to get a chance to sit and piece a song together with. I’ve met him once or twice and I’ve seen him perform. He’s insanely cool. His ability to paint a picture with his lyrics is like Van Gogh or something. His melodies are the auditory equivalent of that as well. What can I say, I aspire to write such crafty stuff.
I’m betting you haven’t heard of him. However, I’m betting you’ve heard his songs. He’s had cuts with major artists that have been big hits. Support the solo effort, he’s worth every cent.
