I’ve talked to a couple of people today where they had plans to do one thing but those plans got cancelled and they ended up having to do something else. Must be in the air of the world today because the same thing happened to me as well. I was to have a recording session to finish up the tracking of a new song. That didn’t happen.
Instead I got to spend time running around getting things set with my new ride and getting things for my dog. The amount of time it takes to run around town is nothing short of wild. Why do things take so long some times?
Plans and the idea of them is what brings me to Ben Folds tune called Don’t Change Your Plans.
The meandering movement of the song exemplifies the idea of how things can go differently than how you want to plan them. Even though the title doesn’t exemplify it, the music does. It’s a long song in the making too. Something that actually takes a bit of planning in order to hold a listener’s attention.
While I understand that plans can change. When things are on a deadline, it kinda hurts the ability to make that deadline. Oh well.
If you’re digging the ebb and flow of the song, I do recommend getting it and actually the whole CD. I’m a fan of a lot of story discs and this is certainly a good one.
