A little something that I started last week was finally finished today. Wrapped up and put out to the world. What a nice thing to finish and release.
Another project that really got underway today was the refinishing of my floors in my house. Picked up new floor boards or rather base boards. The carpenter is getting the room all prepared with all the sanding that will be getting done tomorrow. It’s wild to see the room empty and being stripped down. It will be great to see it finished in a couple of days. Silly to hear about remodeling in a music blog right?
Well, later today I’ll be writing more music too. Got a long time friend coming over to write another funk track for production stuff. I also have a proposition from a little record label to do some music for them. I have to look over the deal and the examples of what they’re looking for.
Since I’m thinking of floors for the next few days, I’m gonna have to roll with Chris Whitley today. He did an entire album called Dirt Floor. From what I know of it, it was recorded very simply. One mic, Chris and a guitar. That’s it. I think it was in a barn or something too. On a real dirt floor. Of course I wasn’t there, so I don’t really know.
Chris was an amazing musical talent. I caught him in concert a few times. A couple of times where it was just him and a guitar, and a couple of times where it was him and a band. I must say that I preferred him solo. So much more powerful. Though when it comes to his albums other than Dirt Floor, the full arrangements are amazing.
Start here and check out everything you can that Chris did, you won’t be disappointed.
