Whoa, what a trip. A much needed mini vaca. However, I’m a tad overdone in the sun dept. If you haven’t spent time on the river (the Colorado river) you haven’t lived! I’ve done several river trips. Not only to Parker. I’ve also gone down the Colorado in Utah. My dad used to run the river in a Dory. That’s a major fun way to run a river in the rapids and stuff. I suppose that’s where I got my first taste of beer a wee teenager. My dad was contributing to the delinquency of his son in a controlled environment. Way to go dad!
To this day it’s still a thing to drink some beer while hanging on the river. This time there was very little boating involved. Mostly sitting on an innertube tied to other friends on innertubes and then chained to a mass of other people doing the same thing. It was ton of fun. Though the amount of time in the sun was a tad much. I’m a little over cooked in the way of the skin. My chest is still a bit red. The tops of my feet are finally settling down and no longer swollen. Whew.
On another front, it’s time I finally got a new phone. I’ll be getting an iPhone very soon as Apple has announced new ones today. Finally they have a phone that is a step up from the Treo I’ve been toting around for a bunch of years. A very handy phone I must say. It’s been my bread and butter for a long time. I’m looking forward to the iPhone. I’m not looking forward to ATT. Oh well.
I am okay.
Speaking of okay and being a little on the artsy side, we have a nice little ditty from Kaisercartel. As you can hear it’s an eclectic number. A group fronted with female vocals and a tad offkilter. It’s a fun way to return to the workings of city life.
I like the sparseness of the track. I like the way it builds. That’s always the sign of great arrangement to me. So many times as I’m working with co-writers and recording others in the studio, I find they want to throw the kitchen sink at the song right away. The problem with that tactic is that the song really ends up having no where to go to keep the interest. I love building tracks. Even if it means dropping stuff out, or pulling other instruments in.
That’s why I’m diggin Okay. They’ve got that sense of building the track. They’ve got that sense of taking it somewhere else as they move the song along. I appreciate that. I like the organic vibe as well. It’s a refreshing type of sound. Don’t ya think?
I’ve got to get on with my day, so I’ll leave you with that and say, explore the rest of their material. I believe you’ll enjoy the artier side of music. Love it? Buy it!
