Today I’ll be heading down to Carlsbad to visit the Museum of Making Music. Turns out my dad is down in San Diego with his girlfriend for a few days and my cousin has been raving about the place. So he and I will meet up and take a tour of the joint.
It will do me some good to spend time in the car listening to music and making some phone calls. Mostly because I need a day off before the storm of getting the library replicated for the network. Good news all around yesterday and today it’s more fun stuff to provide some knowledge.
Some of the oldest music that I have in my library only dates back to the 50’s. I do have some older stuff like Robert Johnson, but I featured him recently. I’ll roll with Buddy Holly because of the nature of today’s visit to the museum.
That’ll Be The Day is likely the big hit for Buddy. At least according to the movie The Buddy Holly story. I really have no idea what Buddy was really like, the movie paints a really great picture of a fantastic musician and human, but it’s a movie. I’ve heard the music and that’s a powerful thing from the past. He had a sound, a style, and a vibe that helped to change the landscape of music. That’s history right there.
Enjoy yourself and explore your world!
